An ending, MOSS 2007, a begining, and a business trip
I know it's been awhile since my last post. I hope to pick up the frequency this month.
The entire time I have worked for Avanade I have been staffed at a large financial company in New York. It was a great gig, and I grew a lot over the two years I have been there. I had the opprotunity to work with some great people, and had the opportunity to strech myself both technically and leadership wise. However, after two years in a "staff aug" role, I was yearning for a new challenge. So after many months of negotiating, I finally rolled off at the begining of August.
I had a whole week to rest and ramp up on Sharepoint 2007. Avanade provides Collabroative Self Study (CSS) courses that are pretty good at covering material. I have taken several of these courses on topics like BizTalk and Sharepoint 2003. Even though I am only half way through, I have to say this one is one of the better ones.
My new project is to help build a proof of concept that demonstrates the integration of a vendor's online leasing package into the web site of a real estate company that owns several luxury buildings in New York. To complete the POC, I spent the last two weeks in Dallas, Texas working closely with the vendor to customize their product. After the POC is complete, I am hoping to work on some of the more challenging initiatives that the real estate company has ramping up.
I am also working on a short SharePoint 2007 project, and I have already discovered some interesting things that I plan on posting about soon.
